HISTORY OF BARANGAY CANG-ALWANG
Barangay Cang-alwang is one of the 42 Barangay in the municipality of Siquijor, Province of Siquijor. It has a total land area of 1,380.788 sq.m. It is a coastal barangay with a distance of 6.5 kilometers from the municipality proper.Cang -alwang has bounded of three neighboring barangays, barangay Tongo from North side, barangay Tinago from East side, barangay Pasihagon grom South side and West side is a coastal area facing at Negros Oriental, Dumaguete City.
According from the old people, barangay have a plenty of hole and some old people called them “LAW-ANG”, O KALAW-ANG-LAW-ANGAN”. And finally they called it just because KALAW-ANG-LAW-ANGAN is hard to pronounce.
The land classificastion of this barangay is residential and agricultural and majority of the people living in the barangay engage in farming, fishing and backyard racing. The major food crops are corn and cassava.
As of CY 2024, barangay Cang-alwang has a total number of population of 1,190, a total number of household 281.
